This is a good general military history of the Boer War. One very nice feature of this book is the use of contemporary maps. This gives a real feel for the sort of infomation that the British had during the war. Evans has even managed to find a few rare colour photographs from the period! The main strength of this book for me are the photos. Evens includes a great many pictures, with a very good selection of pictures of surviving and reconstructed blockhouses and fortifications that give a very different feel to the later stages of the war.
