The P-51C was the designation given to P-51Bs built at North American’s factory in Dallas Texas, opened specifically to cope with demand for the Merlin powered version of the aircraft. The P-51C was given the same RAF designation – Mustang III – as the P-51B. 1750 P-51Cs were produced at Dallas. The P-51C was essentially interchangeable with the P-51B.
