William Wallace's most famous victory over the English. Wallace and Andrew Moray were able to pick their ground, and Earl Warenne, the commander of the English army, was forced to deploy across swampy ground where his cavalry was less useful. The English army was split in two, and Warenne fled to Berwick. After the battle, Wallace was able to gain control of most of Scotland, although only for a short period.
