A rebel force led by Henry Percy, 'Hotspur', aiming to join with Owen Glyn Dwr against Henry IV was defeated by Henry just outside Shrewsbury. Hotspur was killed in the battle and his body displayed in Shrewsbury. Hotspur's death significantly reduced the threat to Henry IV.
