Zuiho after suffering damage at Cape Engano
This picture shows the damage caused to the Zuiho from the first bomb hit on 24 October 1944 during the battle of Cape Engano. This started fires, lifted the rear elevator, buckled the flight deck (note the dark crack across the flight deck, where one whole section has been lefted up), knocked out steering and caused a small list.The list and steering were soon repaired and the fire put out, but she was sunk later in the same battle.
