Yubari from the Left
Here we see the experimental light cruiser Yubari of 1923. She was designed in an attempt to produce a cruiser with the same firepower and speed as the earlier 5,500t cruisers but at a much lower displacement. Many of the features introduced on the Yubari were then used on the later heavier cruisers, including the unusual funnel.
