Yavuz Sultan Selim at Istanbul, 1946
This picture shows the Turkish warship Yavuz Sultan Selim (the former German Moltke class battlecruiser SMS Goeben) off Istanbul during the visit of USS Missouri (BB-63) in April 1946. At this point the Yavuz Sultan Selim was the last German capital ship of the First World War still afloat, and she remained in service until 1960.
