Lt D.W. Gay's War Effort - 'Summary of My Raids on Our German Enemy'
This page from Lt D.W. Gay's 'War Effort' shows us his own summary of his 'Raids on our Germany Enemy'. This included 41 raids on Italy, 2 on Yugoslavia and 1 on Austria, in which his aircraft dropped a total of 139,020lb of bombs, with 500lb bombs providing almost half of the weight and 20lb anti-personnel bombs the majority of the bombs. On the right is a newspaper reporting the German surrender.

Many thanks to Martin Hampton, the son in law of Lt. Gay, for sending us this material. These pages come from Gay's own private notebook which began with similar infomation to his flight log, but became more detailed, and also included a number of interesting items that had been pasted in.
