Lt D.W. Gay's War Effort - Raid 35

This page from Lt D.W. Gay's 'War Effort' covers Raid 35 and includes a picture taken on Raid 36.

Raid 35 was an attack on the 29th SS to the north-west of Argenta on 13 April 1945, but thick cloud prevented Gay's formation dropping their bombs.

Raid 36 was another attack on troop concentrations, and this photo shows some of the bombs heading down (bottom right). However they overshot and the mission wasn't a success.

Many thanks to Martin Hampton, the son in law of Lt. Gay, for sending us this material. These pages come from Gay's own private notebook which began with similar infomation to his flight log, but became more detailed, and also included a number of interesting items that had been pasted in.
