US Troops fighting in Andernach, March 1945
Andernach is a small town on the west bank of the Rhine, south of the more famous Remagen. Andernach fell to US troops on 9 March, two days after Remagen and the Ludendorff Bridge. Here we see US infantry sheltering behind tanks while a German sniper fires on them from one of the buildings to the left.
