Type XXVIIB Seehund under construction

Type XXVIIB Seehund under construction
Here we see a Type XXVIIB Seehund, a miniature submarine capable of carrying two torpedoes externally. It was developed from the original Type XXVII, which was based on captured British midget submarines, and carried an explosive charge in its nose. The Seehund was a rather more dangerous opponent, but appeared far too late to have any impact on the war.
