Stinson OY-1 Sentinel over Okinawa

This picture shows a Stinson OY-1 Sentinel artillery spotter aircraft in action above Okinawa. The aircraft was ordered as the O-62 by the USAAF, and became the L-5 in April 1942. In Marine service it was the OY-1, taking the 'Y' code from Consolidated, the new owners of Vultee and through them Stinson.
