Formation of Spitfire Mk.IXs at Night
Here we see a formation of Spitfire Mk.IXs at night, with the aircraft outlined against the sky. This was a stop-gap version, produced quickly after the appearance of the Fw 190, but it was eventually produced in much larger numbers than the technically more advanced Spitfire Mk.VIII that was meant to replace it.
