Soviet Infantry in Praga, Warsaw
Here we see Polish and Soviet troops in the industrial suburb of Warsaw, on the east bank of the Vistula opposite the main city on the west bank. The suburb fell on 14 September, while some parts of Warsaw were still in Polish hands as a result of the Warsaw uprising, but the Soviets made no effort to help (and indeed some efforts to prevent help reaching the Poles). Some of the Polish troops under Soviet Command did cross the river, but their commander was sacked soon afterwards.
