Sopwith 1 1/2 Strutter Bomber N5116

Here we see Sopwith 1 1/2 Strutter bomber N5116 soon after it arrived at Luxeuil, where the RNAS operated a bomber force in cooperation with the French. This aircraft served with No.4 Flight, then with No.2 Squadron of No.3 Wing, RNAS, before being transferred to the French. This picture gives us a clear view of her open bomb bay doors - the internal bomb bay of the bomber version of the Strutter replaced the second cockpit of the fighter/ reconnaissance version.
