Uncovered Nose of Sopwith Snipe

Uncovered Nose of Sopwith Snipe

This view of the nose of a Sopwith Snipe without its covering shows us the layout of the most important workings of the aircraft. At the left we have its rotary engine. Behind that is a fuel tank, with two compartments. To the right of the fuel tank is one of the shutes for used cartridge cases, coming down from the twin guns above. To the right of the shute is the ammo bin for the left hand gun. Finally we see the cockpit, with a full view of the pilot's seat.
