Here we see Major Raymond Collishaw, a Canadian 'ace' who was credited with forty of his sixty victories while serving with the RNAS and the rest with the RAF. He was the leading RNAS ace, and also went on to hold high rank in the Second World War, commanding the RAF in Egypt and the Western Desert during the first year of the war in North Africa, before being recalled to the UK in the summer of 1941. Here he is sat in the cockpit of a Sopwith F.1 Camel, showing just how cramped that was, and why a headrest was needed on the end of the twin guns!
