The main 8.2in guns of SMS Scharnhorst
This picture shows two of the four 8.2in guns carried by the German cruiser SMS Scharnhorst, Admiral von Spee's flagship . These guns gave her the edge at the battle of Coronel, where a British squadron was destroyed, but were ineffective against the British battlecruisers at the battle of the Falklands, where the Scharnhorst was sunk.
