SMS Leipzig in 1885
Here we see the bow of the steam corvette SMS Leipzig of 1875, the first iron hulled corvette completed for the German navy. She was fully rigged and her three masts can be seen here. She was armed with twelve 17cm breach loading guns, two of which were carried in the bows for use in chases - one of the forward gun emplacements can be seen here, as can the elaborate decoration of her bow.
