Short S.81 'Gun Carrier' Seaplane
This picture shows the sole Short S.81 Gun Carrier, H.M. Seaplane No.126. She was built in 1913 as an experimental aircraft designed to carry a large gun. She started with a 1 1/2 pounder Vickers semi-automatic gun, and carried a 6-pounder Davies gun in 1915. At the time she was portrayed as a valuable defender of the British coast, but the type wasn't terribly effective.
