Here we see the BOAC Short S.23 Empire Class flying boat G-AFBJ Carpentaria taxiing to Kipevu Point at Mombasa, in May 1946. The aircraft is moving under its own power, unlike a Consolidated Catalina seen in the same collection of photographs, which was being towed into place.
Many thanks to Michael Hopkins for sending us these pictures, which came from his father's collection, and came towards the end of his RAF service, which lasted from August 1941 to November 1946.
