Here we see the BOAC operated Short S.23 Empire Class flying boat G-AFBJ Carpentaria about to land at Mobasa in May 1946. From this angle we get a good view of the cockpit cabins as they pass below the wing, with windows on three different levels. We also get a good view of the boat hull, with a small change in shape just below the wing and a clear step at the rear.
Many thanks to Michael Hopkins for sending us these pictures, which came from his father's collection, and came towards the end of his RAF service, which lasted from August 1941 to November 1946.
