Here we see a group of Senegalese Tiraulleurs, part of the French Colonial Army. Around 135,000 Senegalese Tiraulleurs fought in France during the First World War, and 30,000 were killed. The Germans protested about their use in European warfare, but they were used throughout the war and performed very well.
