Lancaster Mk I during Royal Visit to Nutts Corner, 1942

Here we see King George VI in front of a Lancaster I of No 44 Squadron, Bomber Command, during a visit to Nutts Corner, Northern Ireland, on 26 June 1942

The royal party includes W/Cdr (later G/Cd) McBratney, C/O 120 Squadron and Group Commander Pritchard, Station Commander.

Many thanks to Peter Claydon for sending us these pictures, which belonged to his father, C.W.J. Claydon, who spent much of the war serving as a medical officer with No.120 Squadron at Ballykelly, Northern Ireland.
