Royal Visit, RAF Nutts Corner, 1942

Here we see a Royal visit to RAF Nutts Corner, Northern Ireland, on 26 June 1942. The party is approaching the Station Sick Quarters. C.W.J Claydon's collection included two versions of this picture, with different names on the back, but based on the date of the picture and the identity of the AVM, this list is probably correct.

From left to right we see:
F/L Claydon (120 Squadron Medical Officer),
S/L Kerr,
HM Queen Elizabeth,
Air Vice Marshal John Cole-Hamilton, AOC Northern Ireland
Sgt Smith (?), S.S.Q
Lady in Waiting/ The Countess
WAAF Officer (HQ RAFNI)/ SL Walker
S/L Noble or Kennedy (RAFR)

Many thanks to Peter Claydon for sending us these pictures, which belonged to his father, C.W.J. Claydon, who spent much of the war serving as a medical officer with No.120 Squadron at Ballykelly, Northern Ireland.
