Richelieu from above

Richelieu from above
This view of the French battleship Richelieu gives us a good view of her layout late in the Second World War, when a great many anti-aircraft guns were installed (including fifty-six 40mm and forty-eight 20mm guns). We also get a good view of the unusual layout of her main weapons with all eight of her 15in guns carried in two quad turrets at the front and nine 5in guns in three triple turrets at the rear. Unlike the British Nelson class battleships, the superstructure was still placed towards the centre of the ship.
