Rhine Ferry going ashore, Normandy
Here we see a Rhino Ferry coming ashore to one of the Normandy beaches, some time after D-Day judging by the barrage balloons in place over the beachhead area. The Rhine was made up of several pontoons connected together and driven by outboard motors (the spray from one can be seen here). This example is carrying a mix of lorries ashore, along with one crane.
