Pre-fabricated U-boat segments at Bremen
This British soldier is looking at a number of pre-fabricated U-boat segments in the dockyard at Bremen. These are probably the parts for a Type XXI U-boat, which was designed to be built in small sections across Germany and assembled at the coast. The Type XXI was an advanced design, but the pre-fabricated construction method meant that they were structurally weak, and problems with the system meant that only four were actually completed.
