Plans of Polikarpov I-16
Here we see three plans of the Polikarpov I-16, the main Soviet fighter in 1940 and the first monoplane fighter with an enclosed cockpit and retractable undercarriage to enter front line service anywhere in the world. By 1941 it was almost obsolete, but had to remain in use until more modern fighters could enter service.
