US Plan of the Seydlitz as Heavy Cruiser

This plan from a US Recognition magazine of 1944 shows the German heavy cruiser Seydlitz in her original layout as an Admiral Hipper class cruiser. In June 1942, when she was almost complete, the Germans decided to turn her into an aircraft carrier, and by the start of 1943 the superstructure had been removed. However early in the year Hitler cancelled all work on carriers, so by 1944 the Seydlitz was an abandoned hulk at Konigsberg.
