Parachute drop during Operation Dragoon
Here we see a daytime parachute drop being carried out by the Troop Carrier Air Division of the 12th Air Force to support Operation Dragoon, the invasion of the South of France. The initial landings took place before dawn, so can't be what is seen here. This picture is often used to illustrate stories about the D-Day parachute drops, despite being from a totally different theatre!
