Panzer IV ausf D from above
Here we see a Panzer IV ausf D seen from above, showing the layout of this version of the tank, with its kinked superstructure. This version of the Panzer IV had an armoured shield for the coaxial machine gun (to the left of the main gun in this picture), while the ausf E had extra armour added to the front of the superstructure, fitting around the various vision ports.
