Lord Mountbatten addresses troops at Mandalay, 21 March 1945
Here we see Lord Louis Mountbatten, the Supreme Allied Commander, addressing men from the Royal Armoured Corps on 21 March 1945, the day after they had taken part in the liberation of Mandalay. Mountbatten is sitting on a captured Japanese Type 90 75 mm field gun, which can be identified by the seats for two of the gun crew built into the shield.
