Aerial Photo from Maul Camera Rocket
Here we see a picture taken from the Maul Camera Rocket, developed before the First World War by Alfred Maul. The camera was lifted into the air using an early rocket, then a parachute would carry it back to the ground. This picture of the landscape shows one of the problems with this idea - the lack of control over the photographs being taken. Maul's rockets were developed from 1903 to 1912 but were then made obsolete by reconnaissance aircraft.
