Macchi M.C.202 Folgore shot down in Africa, 1942
Here we see a Macchi M.C.202 Folgore, powered by a licence-built version of the Daimler-Benz DB 601A engine, shot down by South Africa troops in North Africa in 1942. The new engine improved the performance of the Macchi fighter, and also gave it a similar nose to the Messerschmitt Bf 109.
