Prince Louis of Battenberg (1853-1921)

Prince Louis of Battenberg (1853-1921)

Prince Louis of Battenberg was First Sea Lord from December 1912 to October 1914 when he was forced out of office because he had been born in Germany. Battenberg worked alongside Winston Churchill, then First Lord of the Admiralty, and was probably not a strong enough character to deal with Churchill. He became known as 'I concur' because of his habit of signing Churchill's detailed orders without objections.
