Extract from the Log Book of Air Gunner Shenton of No.296 Squadron for the period 6-26 July 1943, kindly provided by his son Garry.
This page records three airborne operations over Sicily. The first, on 9 July, involving suing the Albemarle to tow a Waco glider containing six troops, and a jeep. The second, on 13 July, was a paratroop drop, in which ten men and four containers were dropped five miles south of Catania, to capture a bridge. The third, on 26 July, saw ten sabatours dropped close to Le Carta (either La Carta or Licata).
