B-17G 'Little Miss Mischief', 91st Bombardment Group.

This picture shows the nose art of B-17G 'Little Miss Mischief' (42-97880), of the 91st Bombardment Group. This aircraft was badly damaged on a raid to Cologne on 15 October 1944, but most of the damage was at the back of the aircraft. The largely intact front was thus combined with the undamaged rear of 'Wallaroo Mark II' (42-31405) of the 303rd Bombardment Group to form a composite aircraft. This had a silver front and olive drab rear and flew another 29 missions before crashing landing on 4 April 1945. Repair work began, but the war ended in the following month.
