This illustration shows the Leichter Panzerspahwagen (2cm) Sd.Kfz 222, a up-gunned version of the Sd.Kfz 221 light armoured car. Although this improved its firepower, it did nothing for its poor cross country performance, and these light armoured cars were ill suited to service on the Eastern Front. This vehicle is shown with the net cover for the open top turret down, to stop grenades being thrown into the vehicle.
