Junkers Ju 86P from Above
Here we see the high altitude Junker Ju 86P from above, showing its long wings and the curved windows that covered the pressurised cockpit. This aircraft caused a great deal of concern in Britain when it first appeared, as it could operate above the altitude that any British fighter could reach. A number of high altitude aircraft were developed to deal with the threat, but the Germans never produced the Ju 86P in sufficent numbers for it to be a real threat, and eventually modifed Spitfires were able to shoot them down.
