Letter from John Dobler to Parents (3 of 4)

This is page three of a letter from John Dobler to his parents, written while he was undergoing pilot training somewhere in the United States.

I’ll feel a lot more eager about
everything if I could get home again.
I suppose Mother you’ll be back
from Seattle by October.
Enjoyed very much the
Irishman’s philosolgy, also seeing
??’s picture, he makes a
Mighty fine looking sailor, bet
he’ll be a good one too. Send
me the address again, I lost it in
the shuffle of moving. Sure
appreciate your getting me a pen,
haven’t received it yet, hate to be
bothering you all the time sending
things but at the places I’ve been
the past four months nothing is
available for purchase. Take the $8
of the money I send you the first
of next month.
I’m glad you all have
cut down on canning maybe it will
be more peaceful at home this autumn?

Many thanks to Julie Harrison, John Dobler's niece, for sending us this photo.
