Invasion Fleet in the Rangoon River, May 1945
Here we see the Allied invasion fleet heading up the Rangoon River heading toward Rangoon before the Allied invasion of 2 May 1945. In the distance we can see the smoke from fires started by Allied fighter bombers, supporting the invasion. By 2 May the Japanese had already evacuated Rangoon and the city itself thus fell without a fight.
