Indian Troops in Pignataro, Fourth battle of Cassino
Here we see Indian troops, supported by two Sherman tanks, in the streets of Pignataro, a village just to the north of the Liri River, and south-west of Cassino town. Pignataro fell to the Eighth Army, with Indian troops playing a major part in the battle, on 17 May 1944 during the Fourth Battle of Cassino.
