Admiral Max Horton and Commander D.E.G. Wemyss
Here we see Admiral Max Horton (left), Commander in Chief of the Western Approaches, greeting Commander D.E.G. Wemyss, one of the commanders of the 2nd Escort Group after the death of its original inspirational commander Captain F.J. Walker. Walker died on 2 July 1944, while Commander Wemyss's ship Wild Goose was undergoing repairs which weren't completed until September 1944 so in the gap Commander N.A. Duck of the Dominica took command.
