Here we see the Doxford 30-knot destroyer HMS Violet in her early Victorian livery. The number 2 on her bow is probably her number within the single large flotilla that the British destroyers were organised in at first. She became a C Class Destroyer in 1912, the group for 30 knot destroyers with three funnels
