Here we see the British submarine HMS Venturer, the leading ship of the 'V class' of submarines, an improved version of the 'U class', small submarines originally purchased as training ships, but that proved to be very useful in the North Sea and Mediterranean.
The Venturer's most famous exploit was the sinking of U-864 on 6 February 1945, the first time one submerged submarine had deliberately sunk another submerged submarine. Her captain calculated U-864's most likely course, and fired a spread of torpedoes, one of which hit and sank her.
