Grasshopper Class Torpedo Gunboat HMS Sandfly
Here we see the Grasshopper class torpedo gunboat HMS Sandfly of 1888, one of the first attempts to deal with the threat of the torpedo boat. The torpedo gunboat was soon outclassed by the larger torpedo boat destroyer, and the Sandfly was sold for scrap in 1905.
