HMS Prince of Wales listing before sinking

Here we see the King George V class battleship HMS Prince of Wales listing heavily away from the camera after the fatal Japanese air attack on 10 December 1941. The picture was taken from one of her escorting destroyers (possibly the V class destroyer HMAS Vampire, as the picture comes from the collecton of the Australian War Memorial). One of her 5.25in guns can be seen to the left, and we are looking forward along her starboard side, towards the forward funnel and the back of the bridge.

This picture comes from the collection of the Australian War Memorial, and is in the public domain.,
