This side-on view of the Beagle class destroyer HMS Mosquito gives a good idea of her overall layout, with a 4in gun on the large platform in front of the bridge, one 12-pounder on a platform towards the stern, and her two short torpedo tubes on either side of that gun. The Beagle class were unusual in having one of their torpedo tubes right at the stern, but their less efficient coal powered machinery meant that the engine rooms took up more space than on oil powered destroyers, leaving less deck space amidships.
