HMS Chaser from a Swordfish taking off
Here we see the escort carrier HMS Chaser pictured from a Fairey Swordfish that had just taken off from her, during the mission to escort Convoy JW 57 to the Soviet Union and Convoy RA 57, the return convoy. Five U-boats were sunk during attacks on these two convoys, and no merchant ships were lost, proving the usefulness of the escort carrier.
